Lake Como weddings

Plan your Lake Como wedding
Every wedding we create is designed twice. Once for the day, and once for how it will be remembered.

You share your vision. We bring the villa, the lake and every detail together.

Sparkling Moments designs and plans luxury weddings on Lake Como. Anna leads the planning and design. Diana Vartanova, award-winning wedding photographer and founder of Still Miracle, shapes how every moment looks, and how it is remembered. Since October 2023 we have designed and produced full wedding days at Villa Balbiano and Villa Pizzo, in spring and in autumn, so we know these villas from the inside: their light, their gardens, their jetties and their people.

Your part is the vision. Ours is everything that makes it real: the villa, the design, the vendors, the boats, your guests’ days on the lake, and a wedding day that unfolds with nothing for you to carry.

Why Lake Como

Villas on the water, mountains behind them, and a day shaped by the light.

The light, by season

The light, by season

Spring brings the gardens into blossom; autumn, softer light and warm colour on the hills. In May the sun sets around 8:30 pm, in early October around 7 pm, and we shape the whole day around it.

The lake itself

The lake itself

Lake Como lies in Lombardy, in the foothills of the Alps, its three arms meeting at Bellagio. Its historic villas sit right on the water, with gardens running down to the shore.

Arrival by boat

Arrival by boat

At villas with their own jetty, you and your guests can arrive across the water in a classic wooden motorboat. It is one of the most loved moments of a Lake Como day.

The villas we know from the inside

We have designed full wedding days at both, so we know where the light falls at five o’clock and how long guests take to walk from the lawn to the table.

Villa Balbiano

Grand, baroque and cinematic. A garden avenue with a water channel and clipped hedges; salons with frescoed ceilings, tapestries and green velvet; a lakeside lawn where vows are spoken between stone obelisks; a pool for the aperitivo; and a wooden jetty out into the lake.

For couples who want grandeur and a strong sense of place, and a day that moves through several settings without leaving the estate. We have dressed it in terracotta linen with orange and peach flowers, and in white flowers with bridesmaids in black. Both felt entirely at home.

Cernobbio, near Como

Villa Pizzo

Romantic, garden-led and unhurried. Tree-lined gardens along the water, statues and a fountain among the paths, a lake terrace that holds a full ceremony beneath a floral arch, salons with stucco ceilings, and a jetty for arrivals by boat.

For couples who picture their day outdoors: vows above the water, then a long dinner under the trees. We have designed two weddings here. The first, in October 2023, was featured on Style Me Pretty.

Hour by hour

A Lake Como wedding day

We build every Lake Como day backwards from sunset, so your vows, the aperitivo and your portraits fall in the most beautiful light. This is how a May day at a lakeside villa might unfold, with the sun setting at about 8:40 pm.

  • 1:30 pm · Getting ready in the villa’s salons, window light across frescoes and silk
  • 3:30 pm · A first look and portraits in the gardens, while the estate is still quiet
  • 4:30 pm · Your guests arrive by boat or by road, welcomed with something cold
  • 5:00 pm · Vows by the lake
  • 6:15 pm · Aperitivo by the pool or on the terrace, as the light turns gold
  • 7:45 pm · Dinner beneath the trees, and twenty minutes on the jetty at golden hour
  • 10:00 pm · Toasts, cake and your first dance, timed to the villa’s music hours
  • Late · The party moves indoors and carries on

In autumn the whole day moves earlier; by late October the ceremony sits closer to half past two. If the weather turns, the villa’s salons hold the day beautifully.

Three days on the lake

The wedding weekend

Your guests travel to be with you, so the celebration becomes more than a day.

  • The evening before · A welcome aperitivo or dinner by the water, in one of the lakeside villages
  • The wedding day · The morning yours, the afternoon and night as above
  • The day after · A slow brunch, or a boat to Bellagio and the gardens along the shore

Investment

Your investment

What shapes it

  • Season · the month, and the day of the week
  • Guests · how many you invite, and for how many days you host them
  • The villa · its fee, its exclusivity and what it includes
  • Design · flowers, lighting, tables, stationery and the scale of each setting
  • Guest experience · boats, transfers, hotels, the welcome evening and the day after

Lake Como weddings, answered

All questions about planning with us

When is the best time of year for a Lake Como wedding?

Late spring and early autumn are the classic choice: gardens in flower or warm colour on the hills, and soft light. We have designed wedding days on the lake in April, May and October. In May the sun sets at about 8:30 to 9:00 pm, in early October around 7:00 pm.

How do our guests travel to Lake Como?

Most fly into Milan. Malpensa and Linate airports are about an hour by road from the southern end of the lake, and the last stretch can be by boat.

Can we arrive at our wedding by boat?

Yes, at villas with their own jetty, as at Villa Balbiano and Villa Pizzo. We plan the route and timing with the boat company and the villa, and give the boat its own moment in the day, in the best light.
